The Purpose of Life Is to Live It!

It is always beautiful at the Playa Bonita Village, situated just over the Bridge of the Americas, on a private Pacific Ocean beach. Drenching rain, brilliant red sunsets, gentle breezes, tropical rainforests, and queuing ships waiting to transit the Panama Canal are all part of the luxury residential, condo suites, and resort complex.

Within Bonita Village are the condos of Casa Bonita and the 611-room Westin Resort, Playa Bonita. Now, in the pre-construction phase, The Westin Residences at Playa Bonita, Panama, are expected to be delivered by 2028.

The new Westin Residences will closely meet and achieve the high standards of the Marriott brand.

Located 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Panama City, Playa Bonita is quiet with three-toed sloths, dogs walking their human, gentle breezes, music playing in the background, and incredible concierges at both the resort and the residences. Need help with your groceries? A car or Uber to take you into the city? Do you need to stretch it out in the gym? Sit in the sauna, have a facial, swim in a private pool overlooking the ocean, sip a carefully curated wine, or have a stress-releasing massage? It’s at your fingertips at Bonita.

If You Want, Keep Eating, But Not Cooking

There is always an alternative if you don’t want to cook, including a sprawling buffet, a bar with a great “Marriott” burger, an ice cream shop, sushi, and steaks. You can elect to sit outside by one of the pools or enjoy air conditioning inside. Almost everyone speaks English.

All 350 units at The Westin Residences of Playa Bonita, Panama, will be fully furnished, featuring wrap-around balconies that enhance the architectural design and capture the natural beauty of Panama.

It is luxury living, and it’s about to get even better. Since the recent announcement between Marriott International and Empresas Bern, The Westin Residences of Playa Bonita, Panama, was officially launched with a party held at its sister property, The Westin Playa Bonita Resort. The party was just as incredible as the project.

Everyone who attended the launch party for The Westin Residents in Playa Bonita, Panama, seemed to have a great time enjoying the food, dances, and music that highlighted Panama’s rich cultural heritage.

Over 500 guests were welcomed to the 22-story Playa Bonita Resort to celebrate The Westin Residences, Playa Bonita, Panama. They enjoyed music, cocktails, dancers, swag bags, hors d’oeuvres, and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and the Panama Canal, the same view as the new Westin Residences.

The launch party included dancing pirates pretending to fend off Captain Morgan, illustrating the many times Panama has fought for their independence. Henry Morgan rushed the shores with 1,400 English and French men but was defeated in 1617.

Dancing Out Panama’s History

After the guests refreshed their memories of earlier struggles for independence, they were eager to take a spin around the dance floor with very pleasant—and tall—clowns.

There were other dancing characters, including diablos and clowns, who entertained the guests at the launch party, while moving around among them. They performed acts that portrayed much of Panama’s history, including when Henry Morgan attempted to take over Panama but failed, destroying most of the city. Today, his boat sits 200 yards off Fort San Lorenzo, near the Lajas Reef.

The ruins of Fort San Lorenzo date to the 1750s and are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrating Panama’s cultural heritage. A representation of the diablos, clowns, and pirates helped anyone who didn’t know details about Panama’s cultural pride learned more during the big launch party.

No Dancing Without The Proper Music

The bands demonstrated the rich sound of Panamanian music, a blend of Spanish, African, and indigenous sounds. Key features include the use of percussive instruments, lively rhythms, and a strong emphasis on dancing. More than one band was needed to keep the party and the dancers going non-stop.

The launch party needed more than one Panamanian band. Members usually sport the “juanty” Panamanian hat, crisp linen shirts, and play tunes with a great rhythm. Spot the pirate sneaking around, trying to initiate trouble.

A New York Times reporter once wrote: “I’ve eaten paella all over the world—in waterfront restaurants in Barcelona, in Valencia, and Madrid. Last night in Panama, I ate the best paella in the world.”

Let Them Eat Cake

There was plenty of cake and desserts, but the overall menu highlighted the fresh seafood widely available throughout the country. The corvina, also known as Chilean Sea Bass, costs around $3.50 a pound locally and often ten times that in the United States. The sushi and ceviche were fabulous, but most guests couldn’t wait for the Panamanian Pallea to finish cooking.

Panamanian paella is a distant cousin to the more widely known Spanish paella, made with saffron and a large portion of rice. Panamanian paella uses rice much more judiciously and replaces saffron with tomato, resulting in a dish quite different. Then it is heavily dependent on local seafood, including shrimp, squid, clams, mussels, scallops, corvina, and oysters.

Don’t Forget The Residences

The party launching The Westin Residences of Playa Bonita, Panama, was representative of what the new homes will be for residents and long-term renters: elegant, thoughtful, accommodating, easy, inclusive, luxurious, and, in other areas, a bit more focused on fun. The Bonita Village is already a community. The residents are from all over the world and are high-level professionals, making them incredibly interesting. An afternoon chat by one of the pools is often enlightening.

The Westin Residences will feature 1,335-square-foot units with two bedrooms, a flexible study area, three bathrooms, a lobby, a laundry room, a kitchen, a living room, a dining room, and a balcony with a lookout point.

The views, amenities, retail, restaurants, spa, gymnasium, pools, and community spaces are just a few of The Westin Residences, Playa Bonita, Panama’s amenities.

Other units offer 1,378 square feet in a multi-use, flexible layout featuring a one-bedroom, one-bath unit, as well as a two-bedroom, two-bath unit with a lock-off option for dual rental potential. These units can also be made into a single residence.

Can you tell? I loved the party, sharing with clients and friends.

Individual units start at $400,000 and feature on-site management for rentals, as well as inclusion in the exclusive Pearl Club. Additionally, owners enjoy an impressive list of Marriott perks, including access to all Marriott properties worldwide and other benefits.
